Getting to know MSP's fee codes
MSP fee schedule
Your main reference for what fee codes are available, as well as how to bill them, can be found in MSP's Medical Service Commission Payment Schedule, which you can find by clicking this link.
We highly recommend that you read through the Emergency Medicine preamble, which starts on page 6-1. It has useful explanations about the difference between level codes, and how to bill and chart a consultation correctly.
Section of emergency medicine

Doctors of BC's Section of Emergency Medicine (SEM) is a deeply useful tool for understanding how to bill. At CleanBill we use it almost every day when we need clear interpretation and examples of how to bill certain services provided to patients.
SEMs resources and written and maintained by emergency physicians and often include comments, examples, and caveats to help you bill better.
We highly recommend purchasing a membership to access these resources.
They also make a billing cheat sheet available here.
MSP's MOA billing guide
Back in 2020, MSP published the Medical Office Assistant Billing Guide. This guide offers examples and interpretations of the MSP payment schedule that is segmented into useful subjects.
